Her beauty was effortless, transcending the simplicity of the everyday. The way her long, curly hair cascaded down before the rain, it seemed to dance with each step she took, each task she performed.
Then, as the rain began to fall, she swept her hair up in a swift motion, and even in its tangled state, there was an undeniable allure to her presence. It was as if the rain had not dampened her spirit but rather, enhanced her natural elegance. More...

The Riverwalk at night transforms into a place of mystery and contemplation. The flickering lights cast long shadows, creating the illusion of figures moving in the periphery of one's vision. The rush of trains punctuates the silence, a reminder of the world moving beyond this secluded space. It's a setting where the mind can play tricks, conjuring images of twins with penetrating stares and clowns wandering with balloons, each adding to the tapestry of the night's eerie allure. Spring can indeed bring surprises with its weather, sometimes mimicking the chill of winter rather than the expected warmth. It's probably not uncommon for cold fronts to sweep into Peekskill, NY, causing temperatures to drop and giving us a stark reminder of the season just passed.
And with the change of seasons, it's also quite typical for colds to make their rounds, bringing with them the all-too-familiar sore throats and runny noses. It's a time when staying cozy indoors, away from the howling winds, seems like the best choice to nurture warmth and wellness. Christianity and Islam, as world communities, are alike. Both were conceived naturally but as intentional communities. With 2 billion Christians and 1.5 million Muslims where millions are born into one community or the other without little given choice, none of them began as birth-based, and neither has entirely forgotten its origins. Their unique strength relies on the fact that anyone can join them, anyone can convert to one or the other, for they are Abraham’s spiritual progeny. Their unique weakness is that anyone can quit them; anyone can apostatize. Birth-based communities cannot grow easily, but neither can they shrink so easily. Thus, a Jew who is not a Judaist—not a practitioner of Judaism—is still a Jew. There is the difference. Source: God in the Quran by Jack Miles
Via Amtrak Fayetteville, NC, resembles most Southern cities with a less dense low-rise skyline of old brick buildings, lots of car traffic, tall trees, and very few people in the city center.
The Amtrak station platform is about the busiest place I noticed in Fayetteville that did not include automobiles. For the smoker or one who wishes to breathe fresh air, you can get off here and smoke a cigarette or a blunt with a new acquaintance or just stretch your legs for a moment since Fayetteville is a minor stop. When in Fayetteville, I want to check out the formerly Prince Charles Hotel now The Residences at Prince Charles Hotel on Hay Street. Prince Charles Hotel began in 1923 and the hotel opened in April 1925. It is a seven-story, Colonial Revival style steel frame building sheathed in brick and concrete. It features an Italian Renaissance style palazzo. The original section contained 125 rooms. Also, Fayetteville offers a variety of year-round Farmers markets in downtown that carries produce, fresh flowers, baked goods, milk, cheeses, snacks and other tasty treats, all sourced from local southeastern North Carolina providers. Link: Fayetteville, NC, in Pictures via Amtrak Befriended the coolest kid or rather young man of Latin descent on the train from Washington to NYP who hid out in my seat after sneaking on the train at Union Station. When it was time for the conductor to check tickets of new passengers he slipped away and hid out in the bathroom until the conductor was gone.
I was both amazed and entertained by his brazen performance. Back in New York, which was colder than Washington he needed a coat, but I had none to offer. Wish I had since I had several at home in Peekskill I could have given him. We shook hands on the train with hope to see each other again and parted ways on the platform. A rainy night in New York is as beautiful as any other except you have to watch the puddles of water and scurry of rodents when stepping off the curbs. |
