Pride Month commences on Saturday, June 1, and concludes on Sunday, June 30, marking the 55th anniversary of a journey that spans over half a century since the seminal events at the Compton Cafeteria (San Francisco, 1966) and Stonewall Inn (New York City, 1969) riots. These were pivotal moments that catalyzed the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, igniting a movement dedicated to achieving equality and acceptance.
The courage and tenacity of those who stood up have motivated subsequent generations to persist in the battle against prejudice and to advocate for the freedom to live openly and genuinely. While honoring these significant historical moments, we also celebrate the dynamic diversity and ingenuity of the LGBTQ+ community, which persistently contributes to society and advances the cause for a more inclusive tomorrow.

You can sense when change is occurring, whether it's within yourself or in the challenges you face. You can feel it either slipping through your fingers or pulling you deeper into an abyss. Today, my feelings are unclear, or perhaps I'm not feeling anything at all. Yesterday's weather brought shifting winds, and this morning, while still breezy, lacks the thunderstorm and heavy rain from last night. During the storm, lightning struck the peaks of both the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center in the city. Here in Peekskill, we were graced with a beautiful rainbow arching over the city. It was a day of tranquility. I spent the majority of it alone, immersed in nature, which is incredibly fulfilling.
