Spring has sprung, and it's not just the flowers that are blooming! On Hippie Hill in San Francisco, the 420 celebrations are as high-spirited as the kites in a spring breeze, with a tradition that's grown from a group of high school friends to a full-blown cultural phenomenon. Meanwhile, Peekskill might not be puffing up quite the same smoke signals, but it's buzzing with its own vibrant events, like the Earth Day Clean-Up, which is a different kind of 'green' movement.

And as for my best friend from San Francisco, en route for a visit he's probably enjoying Philadelphia's eclectic weather, where the only thing more unpredictable than a spring shower is the next cheesesteak innovation. So, here's to new faces, old friends, and the unpredictable joy of spring.
