I'm not certain where the signs inviting visitors to quirky South of the Border begin, but their images evoke memories of boyhood as you travel along I-95. I recall my brothers and I reading and thoroughly enjoying all those signs from the backseat of our car about Pedro and anticipating what we would discover at South of the Border, which, according to the advertisements, seemed like some exotic, foreign place. It certainly provided entertaining reading once we grew tired of the pine trees. Back then, I didn't realize that this 'foreign' place was just a stone's throw across the North Carolina border into South Carolina, Yet, we couldn't wait to get it, meet Pedro and buy fireworks. YOU NEVER SAUSAGE A PLACE!
